Re-Elect Commissioner Patricia Chisolm-Miller

MCLENNAN COUNTY COMMISSIONER PRECINCT 2

Meet Patricia
Chisolm-Miller

As one of the six African American women in the state of Texas to serve as a county commissioner, Patricia Chisolm-Miller is the first woman to be elected to the McLennan County Commissioners Court and the first African American woman to serve on the Court. She personally supervises a road and bridge department of 17 men and women, with a personnel budget of $1.4 million, an equipment fleet of $4 million, and an operating department budget of $3.2 million. As a member of the McLennan County Commissioners Court, she is one of five votes in the research/ adoption and administration of the county’s budget. For FY 2022, McLennan County’s budget is over $172 million.

Today, as Commissioner Miller places her bid for re-election, she is proud to say that she has delivered on the promises she made to voters when she ran for office in 2018.

Equality Meets
Opportunity

It is my hope and my prayer that girls and young women of color, especially from modest means, will embrace the ideal that they should strive for any job or position here in McLennan County that they are qualified for and desire.  For me, an elected office was not a position I envisioned for myself.  However, I held an intense yearning to be part of any action or plan that would equalize and elevate those who have historically found themselves struggling for the American Dream.

Ample income stability, access to quality healthcare, fair opportunity, and access to system resources can determine the future, successful direction for individuals and families.  That propels me in strengthening and promoting programs designed to level the playing field. As a descendant of slaves in the last state in this country to free its slaves, I am also motivated by the blood, sweat, and pain of my ancestors.  While suffering the hardships of slavery, I’m sure, they prayed that their next generation would
have a better life.  I serve and work each day for that dream to be a permanent reality for all.

Let's Keep Going in the Right Direction
